Living Cross, a three-hour performance/installation produced at the Randolph Street Gallery in Chicago was a visually stunning environmental still life with the look and feel of a devotional shrine. Alex and Allyson lay naked with red votive candles on their chests in the center of a massive living cross made up of row after row of roses and apples. The perimeter was lined with candles. Above the Greys hung an angel of death—a flying winged skeleton holding in its outstretched arms a neon light in the shape of an infinity symbol. The sensual and spiritual atmosphere of the piece was enhanced by a soundtrack of Gregorian chants.
